We care a lot about keeping your information safe.
What we collect
- Your name and email
- Your French and Spanish speaking recordings
- Your scores, feedback, and progress
- Basic technical info (like what device you use)
How the AI works
- When you practise, your voice is sent to an AI system that listens and responds in French or Spanish
- The AI listens to your voice to help you practise — it does not use your voice to train itself or for advertising
- The AI gives you scores and tips to help you improve
- The AI can sometimes make mistakes — it's a helper, not a teacher or examiner
What we DON'T do
- We don't sell your data to advertisers
- We don't show ads to children
- We don't use your recordings for marketing
- We don't use what you say in practice to build a profile of you
- We don't share your info with strangers
Voice recordings
- Your voice recording may be kept for a short time for safety checks, then permanently deleted
- The words you said (transcripts) are kept as part of your practice record
- You can ask us to delete your recordings at any time
If you're under 18
- We need your parent's or guardian's permission
- Your parents can see your data anytime
- Your parents can ask us to delete your data
If you're a Common Entrance pupil under 13
Common Entrance (CE 13+) practice is for pupils aged 11 and above. Because you might be younger than 13, your parent has to say yes before you can use it. There are two ways that happens:
- Your parent signs up themselves and says yes for you. They then give you your own sign-in (a username and a PIN or password) so you can practise.
- Or your school sets it up if your school has agreed to use Tête-à-Tête. Your school's data protection officer says yes on behalf of all the pupils and gives you your sign-in.
You never give us your email address — your parent or school holds that.
While you're under 13, these things are turned off for you and can't be turned on:
- No push notifications on your account — only your parent gets reminders, and only if they choose to (school-led pupils: reminders go through your school in the usual way)
- No leaderboards, no streaks, no “you're falling behind” messages
- No friend lists, no chat, no social features
- No adverts, no behaviour tracking
Your parent can stop your practice and ask us to delete your data at any time. If they do, we delete it within 30 days. On your 13th birthday, you can choose to take over your own account.
